“We are all thrilled with their remarkable results, up against the best of the best from Australia wide,” Narooma Surf Lifesaving Club president Steve (Dobbo) Dobson said.
Justin Bennett won not one, but two Gold medals in his division for Beach Flags and the other in his Beach Sprint, a fast and furious contest without doubt!
The professional flags arena was sure to be intimidating to say the least. Justin has blown the competition away, his first season competing and patrolling for the club, after supporting his kids involvement in years past.
Joe Halsey our Under 17 competitor showed everyone his prowess in both sprints and long distance running. Joe made it through four rounds of Beach Sprint heats, semis, quarter-finals and into the grand final finishing in sixth place overall. Joe’s on-going training also paid off in the 2km Beach Run, ranking fourth in Australia and an impressive achievement to be sure.
“We are very proud of the fact that both Justin and Joe are actively involved with our Nipper program and their latest experiences in Perth will go on to assist our up and coming competitors in the club and their aspirations as surf lifesaving champs,” Dobbo said.
“It’s an awesome accomplishment from both our Narooma competitors, Justin Bennett and Joe Halsey and we wish them both congratulations,” he said.
