Called the “Katungul Coming Together Mentoring Project”, the initiative aims to improve collaboration between local services, non-government organisations and government agencies in the local region.
Katungul is a local organisation that provides medical services on the Far South Coast to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients.
The Early Start program within the Cerebral Palsy Alliance aims to improve access to early intervention and early diagnosis of disability or developmental delay.
The program that Deirdre works in offers priority access to Aboriginal clients.
As part of the Katungul Coming Together Project, Deirdre will act as a mentor to fellow health worker Kayla Stewart at Katungul.
It is hoped that Deirdre's involvement will not only improve Cerebral Palsy Alliance's profile within the region, but also facilitate important networks with the Aboriginal community.
