“On behalf of the Members of the Narooma Golf Club we are delighted to be able to assist and donate $2,700 to the Narooma RFS so they can purchase needed equipment being two way communication radios, security cameras and repairs to the fire station roof,” golf club general manager Dominic Connaughton said.
Narooma RFS brigade Captain Adrian Cooper said the firefighters were extremely grateful.
“It will help immensely during the upcoming fire season as well as improving the security of the fire shed,” he said.
The fire captain also reminded everyone that the bushfire season, which was anticipated to be a bad one, started next week and permits would be required for any kind of fire.
The Narooma Golf Club meanwhile last week also donated $6,000 to the Narooma Surf Life Saving Club to purchase a variety of much-needed oars, a sweep oar, rowlocks and prop guards for the upcoming season.
Again, the Narooma Surf Club was very grateful for the support.
“The ClubGRANTS money will enable the Narooma surf club to implement some much needed upgrades to our surfboats and our IRB's, which are an integral part of Narooma Surf Club,” club captain Ben Bate said.
“We hope the new equipment on the surfboats will enable our club to encourage new members to the exciting and healthy sport of surfboat rowing, while the IRB equipment will strengthen our commitment as an emergency service in the community.
“We have seen an enormous increase in membership, patrol members and nippers in the last three years and with the next season fast approaching we are expecting it to be bigger and better.”
The Narooma Golf Club for its part was also appreciative.
“The club appreciates and acknowledges the important role both of these great organisations do for our local community,” Connaughton said.
“We are proud to be able to assist financially under the ClubGRANTS donation scheme”.
