THE annual Navy, Army and Air Force bowls tournament on the weekend was once again a huge success. Originally sponsored by the RSL Club, the carnival has been running for 25 years.

One of the highlights of the event was on Saturday morning, after the flag raising ceremony, when a fly past and aerial display by Lionel Carpenter with a model SES Fighter Bi-plane which was used by the British in the World War I and was claimed as the best.
The overall winners this year were the local Dalmeny boys Ralph Redhead, Dudley Drake, Peter Hattam and skip Peter Pisanos.
Ken Franklin and his team of Rick Christie, Anthony Baker and Henry Butler took out the second prize.
Third prize came from a combination of Dalmeny, Malua Bay and the ACT - they were Ian Cooper skip, Torf Aspaas, Ray Dunbar and David Peters.
Second Day winners were Leigh Falkiner, Ken Nester, Joel Hilliard and Dave Dearing.
The best full service team was won by a Navy and Army combination led by Richard Fitzgerald, with Paul Beavis, Harry Coulson and Brett Perrin.
Dalmeny Men’s Bowling Club president, Ray Dunbar thanked the Dalmeny lady bowlers, raffle sellers, chef and bar staff for their help in making the day such a huge success.
