Rhonda Hill and her little cousin Sharon Bate were lucky enough to win two VIP tickets to the Footy Show from Nine's morning show and being so lovable, hosts David Campbell and Sonia Kruger invited them to the filming of their show as well.
Rhonda says it was a once in a lifetime experience and of course she took along a Narooma News for a photo on both shows.
All the hosts including Paul “Fatty” Vautin were very gracious and agreed to pose in a photo with the newspaper.
The Narooma News meanwhile visited Brekky Central and the Sunrise on Channel 7 morning show at Martin Place, downtown Sydney on Monday morning thanks to Narooma Numnutz winter swimmer Glenn Bywater.
Glenn was in staying in central Sydney for the national championships, and you can read all about that in the sports pages of today’s edition.
He was able to chat to sports reporter Mark “Berets” Beretta and hand him a Numnutz cap that was placed on the shelf on the set between two footy team caps.
Berets also agreed to be in a photo with Glenn donning the team cap.
Thanks to these readers who took our paper to these shows and also to all our “Have News will travel…” contributors – remember to pack your News in your baggage who knows who we will see in what location next!
The News goes to China
LIZ and Tony Stenhouse of Central Tilba returned last week from a fascinating trip to China and shared the Narooma News with two of Narooma’s young people who are working in China.
China it seems is the place where many young Australians are moving to work. Just this Thursday on their return, Liz learnt of a friend in Narooma whose daughter has also just moved to Shanghai to work. The Stenhouses daughter Brianna flew to Shanghai from Yantai, Shandong Provence where she is working, for an extended weekend with her parents and to enjoy some interesting sightseeing. It was a welcome break for Brianna from her job as part of a project management team of a brand new luxury boat build, the first premium luxury cruising motor yacht to be built by the Chinese.
It was also a great opportunity to catch up with a family friend, a childhood school pal of Brianna’s, Pasquo King.
“We all enjoyed an impressive meal at the major restaurant, the Yi Cafe, at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel, Pudong where Pasquo is the sous chef, managing 300 chefs and many restaurants and cafes in the hotel complex,” Liz said.
“The impressive Yi Cafe has 11 international food stations. It was like dining at 11 different restaurants all at once,” she said.
Following their travels with Brianna, Liz and Tony enjoyed a 16 day organised tour of China which included climbing The Great Wall of China outside of Beijing.
“We learned that China now has a new species of crane, the Yellow Crane that the Chinese joke is taking over from the Red-crowned crane as the national bird, (a very large white crane with a red crown, black wing tips and tail.)
“The Yellow crane is everywhere in China “nesting” on top of massive new complexes of 5-12 apartment buildings, 40-50 storeys tall rising from the street in suburb after suburb after suburb, city after city after city, right across the country.
“Our visit to China was an interesting, exciting and enjoyable adventure,” Liz said.
