The proceeds from this year’s charity bowls day at Club Narooma was last week handed over with two $500 checks going to the Narooma Volunteer Rescue Association rescue squad and also to the Narooma Rural Fire Service brigade.
Jeff Garrad from the VRA squad said the money would go toward the purchase of another portable LED work light used to light up accident scenes.
While RFS Captain Adrian Cooper said the money would go toward finishing off the extension and roof at the station.
Ken Shepherd from the Deviates said he hoped other volunteer and service groups from around the district would participate and have a bowl in next year’s event and that in turn could land them a donation.
“It’s all about helping out on the day and then we show our appreciation by helping them out.”
Organisations such as the VRA meanwhile are always looking for new volunteers of all skill and ability levels, so get involved!
