The launch was planned for this Saturday, December 13, but Eurobodalla Shire Council will reschedule the event to celebrate in February 2015.
Council has apologised for the inconvenience and hopes to see everyone at the launch in February.
LOCALS of Narooma will join together this Saturday to celebrate the official launch of the streetscaping project and redevelopment of the town centre, after 18 months of construction involving the local community.
The official launch event will take place at the NATA Oval on Bluewater Drive from 11am on Saturday, December 13.
Mayor Lindsay Brown will host the launch moment at 12noon and welcome the community for an afternoon of family friendly activities which will include a barbecue, jumping castle, face painting and tree planting to mark the occasion.
Streets ice cream will be offering free ice creams at the event in recognition of the brand’s founder and past Narooma resident, Ted Street who also has a local park named in his honour.
Streets Ice Cream is bringing the much loved Paddle Pop Lion to Narooma to help serve the free ice creams during the day.
Streets inspired artwork will also be installed in the town’s launch area to mark the company’s philanthropic work in Narooma.
“It’s a very exciting day for the people of Narooma as the local community have been instrumental in planning and facilitating the redevelopment of the town,” marketing director Anthony Toovey said.
“The Streets family has a longstanding connection with Narooma and so we are proud to be involved in the official launch of the streetscaping project this December.”
The $4.6 million Narooma Streetscaping project has collaborated with local business owners and residents at every stage and has transformed the town.
The redevelopment work includes new garden beds and trees, shared pedestrian and cyclist pathways, a new roundabout and extra-long vehicle parking.
The project was made possible by the significant contribution from the NSW Government and support from local member Andrew Constance MP.
The official launch of the Narooma Streetscaping project will be held at NATA Oval on Bluewater Drive in Narooma on Saturday from 11am until 1pm.
