There has been no public announcement of who purchased the prime corner block, and the Narooma News has been advised that that land sales can be subject to confidentiality clauses to protect the buyer’s identity.
According to sources familiar with the companies involved, the site would encourage Maccas to build a new style of outlet, one reaching two or three storeys, with a significant façade facing the highway.
It could include a multi-storey version of the Maccas “Golden Arch” on the front of the building, which would provide a highly visible entrance to the Narooma business district.
The development could also include the redevelopment of the Ken Rose Park on the opposite side of the highway as an extension to the take-away restaurant’s parking area – connected to the fast-food restaurant by a flyover footbridge.
It would also encourage the use by Maccas’ customers of the nearby mangrove-bordered park, an area which is presently under-utilised under the terms of the Eurobodalla Council organisational review program.
It is not known if a development application has been submitted as yet, but it was expected the council would hold an extraordinary special meeting and inspection at the Narooma site today, Wednesday (April 1).
Narooma Maccas? Not! April fools!
IT’S not often that we publish on April 1 and we could not resist having a bit of fun!
No, Maccas is not coming to Narooma – not at the Riverside Road intersection nor at the old Caltex site at the roundabout.
Both sites are probably too small and some would say a major fast food chain doesn't fit with Narooma and its undeveloped, wholesome nature – so April fool to you!
