THE first meeting of the PCYC Far South Coast advisory committee brought volunteers from throughout the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley shires together at Club Narooma last week to establish priorities and direction for club activities and programs.

Club Narooma has generously provided the use of its boardroom for the committee’s monthly meetings.
Over the next several months, the PCYC’s direction with activities and programs will be established with a club strategic plan being tabled for discussion and the establishment of monthly meeting dates and club goals.
A club business plan is also being developed for the establishment of sustainable programs on the Far South Coast.

At the meeting, police youth case manager Senior Constable Greg Curry discussed some exciting programs that have been and will be running over the next 12 months, including the South Coast Warriors Program, with plans for a trek in the Northern territory in 2016.
Programs are specifically targeted at youth at risk, who are generally referred by the Local Area Command of the NSW Police and must last a minimum of eight weeks with specific education, health and lifestyle components involved.
Many local businesses have been highly supportive of the PCYC and programs such as Greg’s running throughout the Far South Coast.
Recently Quota Narooma provided a donation towards the club’s programs and specifically to assist Senior Constable Curry raise funds toward the NT Trek.
Narooma and Moruya Rotary clubs have also been greatly supportive and provided financial support of programs and activities.
Moruya has been running a very successful TaeKwonDo for juniors 6-12 year old and looking to incorporate a senior TaeKwonDo class from Term 3 this year.
There is also a lot of interest in archery in the Eurobodalla area.
The Eurobodalla Archery Club has expressed interest in partnering with the PCYC in come and try days on the South Coast.
Any interested young archers out there should contact the PCYC Far South Coast to register.
The PCYC far South Coast will be meeting every second Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Club Narooma.
They are after young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to come on the committee and provide a view from the youth perspective and a president that can assist he club in establishing strategic direction.

The committee will meet again for a strategic planning session on Wednesday, June 24 at Club Narooma.
While Narooma Indoor Sport and Leisure Centre has its roof replaced and upgrade works carried out over the next six weeks, the PCYC Far South Coast Office will be moving between the Narooma Youth Café, Bega Youth Space and Batemans Bay.
