Competitors will face 115 competitive kilometres of the fast and technically demanding roads in the State forests behind Narooma, as they compete for points in Round 2 of the 2015 NSW Championship and Round 4 of the 2015 ACT Regional Rally Series.
The event will start from NATA Oval in Narooma, with the service point located at the start venue and visited by the crews multiple times within the day.
“The forests around Narooma have some of the best rally roads in Australia and competitors love competing down here. The roads are smooth, fast and flowing but there are plenty of traps if you aren’t on the ball,” event director Michael Taylor said.
As the event is only a few weeks before Australia’s round of the World Rally Championship, Coates Hire Rally Australia, the event has attracted entries from regular Australian Rally Championship competitors Simon Evans, Jack Monkhouse, and Adrian Coppin.
Evans is a four times Australian Rally Champion having driven for the factory Toyota team and his blinding fast driving style will be a welcomed addition to the Narooma Forest Rally.
“The event is only a few weeks before Rally Australia, so is a great opportunity to get some more miles in the car, particularly with the new pace noted format,” Evans said.
While the event has attracted the likes of Evans, Thomas and Michael Barrett will be out to defend their 2014 win in the Total Traction Services Evo 6.
“It’s great to see guys like Simon coming and supporting this event, but we are looking forward to getting back out on the great Narooma roads and having some fun” Thomas said.
With some blistering times to be set on the stages, spectators should come down and have a look.
A spectator point will be set up on Mitchells Ridge Road, with all information available on www.nswrally.com
After the event everyone is welcome to join the crews at the finish venue, Club Narooma from 7pm for a celebration and some tall tales about close calls with the scenery.
