Across Australia the NBN is powering ahead with the release on Friday of a comprehensive construction plan to network 9.5 million premises nationwide.
Today NBN is releasing its full construction schedule out to September 2018, providing Australians with the greatest detail yet on when the NBN will reach them.
Across the Eurobodalla and Eden-Monaro thousands of residents will benefit from broadband upgrades in areas including:
- Cullendulla – 140 premises, Nov-2015 - Fixed Wireless
- Beashel Hill, Bergalia Village, Bodalla, Potato Point – 810 premises, Q2-2016 - Fixed Wireless
- Batehaven, Batemans Bay, Catalina, Denhams Beach, Long Beach, Maloneys Beach, North Batemans Bay, Sunshine Bay, Surf Beach, Surfside - 8,400 premises, Q1-2017 - Fixed Line
- Moruya, Moruya Heads - 2,000 premises, 2017 (H1) - Fixed Line
- Dalmeny, Kianga, Narooma, North Narooma - 3,400 premises, 2017 (H1) - Fixed Line
- Broulee, Malua Bay, Mossy Point, Tomakin - 3,400 premises, 2017 (H2) - Fixed Line
- Tuross Head - 1,700 premises, 2017 (H2) - Fixed Line
“The release of the plan is a huge step forward for the NBN as the company works to speed up the rollout and make the build as cost-efficient as possible. The Coalition Government understands that internet access is important for our community and will transform education, health care and other critical online services,” Dr Hendy said.
“Rollout progress under Labor was slow and costly. In 6 years in Government no NBN connections were delivered in Eden-Monaro.”
“The Coalition Government recognises that consumers want fast broadband as soon as possible. All services over the nbn will allow families to stream movies, surf the web, and complete schoolwork online, – all at one time. Businesses will also benefit from the vastly higher bandwidth available.”
“The plan demonstrates the Coalition’s commitment to rural and regional Australia in closing the digital divide. Voters in Eden-Monaro now have a choice – accelerated NBNdelivery under the Turnbull Coalition or Mike Kelly and Labor’s plan to delay the NBN delivery out to 2026,” Dr Hendy said.
Nationwide, more than 1.3 million homes and businesses can now order an NBN service and there are almost 700,000 homes and business under construction. Around 600,000 premises already have an active connection and are enjoying the benefits of very fast broadband. NBN is working to provide fast interest to every home and business in Australia by 2020.
Today’s announcement about the three year NBN construction plan is in addition to work already underway or completed in Eden-Monaro.
