The Sea Eagles started well with captain Adam Blacka hitting a quickfire 23, with 18 runs coming from boundaries, before he was bowled by the Pirates’ Nick Mason.
Fellow opening batman Chris Dwyer reached his second half-century of the season with 62 runs.
Dwyer put on a crucial 54-run partnership with Craig Nicholson before falling to Lachlan Brennan with the Tathra total on 3/143.
Nicholson fell soon after for a quickfire 46, with 38 runs coming from boundaries, including five sixes before he was trapped leg before wicket to Brennan with the score on 157.
After the fall of Nicholson, only Blake Grant and Justin Welsford (13) showed any resistance to the Pirates’ attack, taking the score to 224.
Needing more than five and-a-half runs per over, South Eurobodalla crumbled to be all out for 119 from 30.3 overs.
Southern Eurobodalla’s B grade match against Wyndham at Dalmeny Oval was abandoned.
Wyndham works C grade
Wyndham hosted Southern Eurobodalla in the C grade competition at Wyndham Sports Ground on Saturday.
The Pirates batted first and Theo Turner (12), Blake Stevens (18), Nathan McDiarmid (14) and Josh Piper (17 not out) made starts and Scott Sullivan top-scored with 29 runs.
A late Sullivan and Piper partnership of 49 runs gave the Pirates’ bowlers a target to defend and the visitors finished 7/137 from their allotted 40 overs.
In reply, Wyndham’s Roland Jones-Whittem (40) top-scored for his side, but fell short of a half-century when he was bowled by Boyd Brennan.
Zac Smith (28) and Doug Caldwell nursed Wyndham’s score past 120 when Smith was caught by Sullivan off Piper’s bowling.
The home side eventually passed the total and won by eight wickets with five overs to spare.
Pirates whip Pambula
The Pirates under 14s team sailed to the top of the competition ladder with a 36-run win against the Pambula Red Dogs at Pambula Beach Ground on Saturday.
Pirate batsmen Theo Turner (53) smashed a half-century and Justin Hanslow (44 not out) came close as their team tallied 5/154 from 25 overs.
In reply, the Pirate bowlers troubled Pambula’s middle order and Jarrah Limon (2/10), Ryan Brice (1/24), Hanslow (1/13), Rory Spurgeon (1/6) and Reilly Beauchamp (1/13) took wickets.
