Eurobodalla Shire Council is undertaking foreshore protection in the area.
The project was included in the 2015-16 Special Rate Variation infrastructure works and will cost $40,000.
“The erosion has been occurring for some years and the works are not due to recent storms,” a council spokeswomen said.
“The rock wall is approximately 35 metres long by 1.5 metres high.
“Eight concrete, two-metre wide steps will be built into the wall to provide access to the water for swimmers and other people using the waterway for recreational activities.”
The spokeswomen said the foreshore protection works would be completed by the end of June 2016, weather permitting.
“The works will utilise existing material onsite to create a low earth mound along the front which will be planted out with native plants to protect the area from further erosion,” she said.
A Dalmeny resident sent us in photos of the work and said “more work like this will be needed to protect beaches.”
