Was it the previous week's cooler weather that caused the ocean temperature to drop to 14C or were the culprits all those lurking, mysterious, bitey creatures in the water? This is what many of last week's contributers to Narooma News would have you believe.
However, Blue Bottles Harrison and Austin convinced the one Blue Pointer and seven Blue Balls those mysterious creatures in Horseshoe Bay were in fact Pokemon Go characters.
As a result of their compelling insistence Horseshoe Bay became the swim location. They even convinced Ian that if he wrapped his smart phone in a plastic bag to waterproof it and took it for a swim he would be able to “capture the creatures”. Guess who's getting a new phone for Father's Day?
According to Wikipedia, Pokemon Go has been praised by medical professionals for potentially improving mental and physical health and brings augmented reality to the mainstream - just a little bit like winter ocean swimming.
Next Sunday the Narooma Numnutz venture south to join the Bermagui Blue Balls for their annual swim in cooler climes.
So if you'd like to join us just bring your togs, smile and sense of adventure to Horseshoe Bay at 9am on Sunday.
