A marlin he tagged and released had a section of commercial long-line gear already coming out its mouth.
The black marlin was one of two he caught off Broome with Makaira Gamefishing on a solo charter.
“The long line hook was in the corner off its mouth with line trailing behind. At tagging, we were able to remove the hook with long line attached. The skipper of the boat thinks it must have broken free and travelled about 200 miles before capture as there is no long lining in the area. The marlin was tagged and released in good condition.”
Thanks for the photo Matt and good to know this marlin is stilling swimming out there somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
