Dad Glenn said Lachlan has just started getting right into his fishing, hence the new rod/reel and tackle box.
“At his age of 6, I don't think that size actually matters, it's just the addiction of fishing that captures us all! He actually caught his first legal fish on an old rod of mine two weeks ago, a 47cm flatty from the bank at Shoalhaven Heads,” dad Glenn said.
“He also wanted to let this one go so it ‘could go back to its family’. He earned plenty of praise from an elderly couple walking their dog nearby due to his kind nature, even though I think dad may have wanted to keep it.
“It is just fantastic to see people of all ages enjoying such a great activity!”
We agree Glenn, and it's great to see the catch-and-release ethos catching on with even our youngest anglers – we are fishing for the future after all!
