The weather balloon travelled a distance of 158km as the crow flies from Khancoban to Cobargo.
Vicky Hoyer found the equipment in one of her paddocks at Atherton Farm about 2km south of Cobargo last month and was left wondering where it had come from. Click here for the original story
James Pirozzi, manager of Weather and Water at Snowy Hydro, said he read about the “mystery” balloon remains being found at Cobargo on the Narooma News website and wanted Ms Hoyer to know where it had come from.
”This was most likely a weather balloon released as part of Snowy Hydro's cloud seeding operations from Khancoban,” Mr Pirozzi said.
“Understanding weather conditions in the atmosphere is a critical part of our operations and Snowy Hydro have all necessary approvals to conduct balloon launches. I would appreciate if you could you please pass on my contact details to Vicky so that I can put her mind at ease.”
Well thank-you very much James. Vicky and the rest of our readers certainly will be pleased to have this particular mystery laid to rest!
