Both competitors managed to keep their horses focused as the early inclement weather cleared to a mostly fine day to score highly in strong classes.
As well as her winning test in the Preliminary, Dawson rode here horse Obar Hooley Dooley to close-fought third place in the Novice 2.2 and fourth in the Novice 2.1; the winning margin in theses tests was less than one per cent.
Freebody also competed in the Preliminary 1.2, where she rode her KA Rosco to third place.
