TUROSS Head residents enjoyed hearing the roar of more than 150 motor bikes as they started the 2014 One Tree Poker Run on Saturday.
The One Tree Poker Run was the second annual community fundraiser for Tuross Marine Rescue. Tuross Marine Rescue will receive over $2,500 as a donation from Tuross Head Country Club for the event.
The Marine Rescue volunteers worked hard all day providing support for this event to ensure the Poker Run was a safe and fun experience for all the motorbike riders.
On the Poker Run the motorbikes and their riders started from Tuross Head Country Club where they received their first Poker card.
Next stops were Bermagui Pub, Tathra Pub for lunch overlooking the ocean, then Candelo Pub and then back to Tuross Head Country Club for their final Poker card.
It was a safe but adventurous ride with one flat tyre picked up by the support vehicle, one dropped bike, and one lost rider missed Candelo and found Cobargo.
The winner of the Poker Run with the best hand of Poker this year was Peter Stewart from Canberra who received a $500 cash prize.
The One Tree Poker Run attracted local riders from Tuross Head, Moruya, Bodalla, Narooma, Bermagui and Candelo plus big groups of riders from Wagga, the Riverina and Canberra.
The Tuross Head Holiday Parks and Motel were all full with riders and their families making a weekend of it.
All reports were that everyone had a great weekend, the riders loved the scenic south coast and the local Turossians were out on the streets in the morning waving the bikes on.
Riders and locals partied after the Poker Run at Tuross Head Country Club till late with great rock music played by Purple Envy a local South Coast band.
Tuross Head Country Club would like to thank all the sponsors of the One Tree Poker Run including our major sponsor Robbo’s Harley Davidson from Canberra, new sponsor Shannons, and our local Tuross Head sponsors the Village Hardware and Husband Plumbing plus Coila Service Station and Marshall’s Bus Company of Moruya.
The One Tree Poker Run has been scheduled for last Saturday in October next year, that’s October 31, 2015 and it will be a Halloween!
