Car into building – A car became wedged in the Horizon Apartments building on the corner of Clarke Street and the Princes Highway, Narooma after the driver lost control and launched himself over the footpath. Police said the 30-year-old Narooma male driver was returning home after working a night shift when he lost control of his small Hyundai hatchback. The car scraped the footpath before flying down an embankment, becoming wedged in the corner of the apartment complex and landing on its side.
The driver was not seriously injured and was able to get himself to the nearby doctor's surgery. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Police said it was very fortunate that nobody was walking along the footpath at the time and the driver was very lucky not to be more seriously injured.
Youths on roof – Two 14-year-old boys located on the Narooma Library roof at 1.30pm on Sunday were dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Hitchhiker warrants – Police last Wednesday at 10am located a 36-year-old Wallaga Lake woman hitchhiking to Bermagui with two outstanding warrants. She was arrested and charged to appear in Bega Local Court later that day.
Low-range driver – A 38-year-old male driver stopped in Dalmeny at 8.30pm last Monday for a random breath test was charged with low-range drink driving.
Firearms amnesty – Narooma police are gearing up for the national firearms amnesty that begins on July 1 and will run until September 30. If you have any unregistered firearms or other types of dangerous or prohibited weapons, then consider dropping them at the Narooma police station. Click here for more
