TOURISTS got more than they bargained for at Bodalla Park rest area on Saturday when a man became aggressive after his dog had been shooed away a by a camping couple.
The dog owner appeared intoxicated when he approached the couple’s campsite verbally abusing them.
The intoxicated fellow claimed he felt threatened and got hold of a stick to protect him. He then swung the stick twice allegedly in self-defence.
The couple phoned police who attended the scene but an official complaint was not made.
Esky theft
AN Esky containing beer and cider was stolen overnight on Friday from a camp ground in Dalmeny.
Golf gear stolen
BETWEEN 5pm and 6pm on January 25, golfing gear to the value of $3700 was stolen from a golf cart at Narooma Golf Club. The gear included a golf bag, clubs, a range finder, clothing, golf balls and tees.
Break and enter
OVERNIGHT on Thursday a home was broken into in Thomson Parade, Dalmeny. Entry was gained through a ground floor front window. A laptop, iPod, speaker and alcohol to the value of $1000 were stolen. The victim was home, asleep in bed at the time of the crime.
Multiple charges
A LOCAL 30-year-old man was arrested on outstanding warrants on Thursday. Bail was refused and he went to Batemans Bay Court the following day.
The man’s crimes include two counts of aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence, reckless wounding, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, assault, stalk, malicious damage and stealing.
Cannabis seized
AFTER receiving a tipoff regarding cannabis plants police attended a house in Davidson Street, Narooma last Wednesday. Police found a cannabis plant measured at 1½ metres tall along with seven smaller plants. A 36-year-old man has been charged with cultivating the prohibited plants.
School assault
INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after an aggressive incident involving two boys at Narooma High School on February 17. Through an open window a 14-year-old boy verbally tormented a 12-year-old boy inside a classroom before being told to go away by a teacher.
Soon after when the younger boy was outside the older boy appeared and punched the victim in the face. This was followed by two more punches to the head. Then the older boy pulled the victim forward and kneed him in the face twice. One of the victim’s friends pulled the older boy off and he walked away. An AVO is in place to protect the victim.
Dog killed
A PET dog has been shot and killed by a rural property owner south of Narooma. The shooter claims that the dog was trespassing on his property and had been known to upset his livestock. The dog was shot in the hip and died a slow death.
Campground arrest
A man wanted for breaching an AVO three times, escaping lawful custody, resisting arrest and refusing a random breath test and breath analysis was arrested and charged at Brou Lake at 6pm on Saturday. The 35-year-old local was refused bail.
GPS theft
A GPS unit was stolen from a Toyota Prado parked outside the owner’s house in Hart Street, Bermagui overnight on Tuesday, February 19.
Yowrie break in
BETWEEN January 3 and February 16 a property at Yowrie was broken into causing $1000 worth of damage to various locks. Stolen items to the value of $175 included a blanket, two cast iron camp ovens and three tarps.
Driver charged
A LOCAL man was stopped in Cobargo recently for a random breath test when police discovered the 35-year old was driving while his licence was disqualified. The man has been charged.
