“Following a large volume of calls and emails to my electorate office, I contacted NSW Premier Mike Baird to request his assistance with $5,000 in funding to ensure the 222 Cadets were able to arrange their transport to Norfolk Island for ANZAC Day this year,” Mr Constance said.
“The Premier formally advised today that the grant has been approved through the Premier’s Rural and Regional Grants fund and I am super excited to announce it. The Cadets, aged 13-17 years, have been fundraising for quite a few years to achieve this trip and had exhausted other options to financially finalise the requirements.
“I would like to congratulate Mrs Judy Brown, the Cadets and their families who were integral in getting the community to support their trip. It gives me great pleasure knowing that they will have the opportunity to undertake this trip of a life time and that they will be wonderful ambassadors for Australia and our region on ANZAC Day. I wish the entire contingent safe travels and look forward to hearing of their adventures upon their return.”
Narooma Sporting and Services Club meanwhile also donated $500 toward the trip, seeing as it was going to be a great experience for the cadets, club general manager Tony Casu said. Click here for more
