The temperature inside a car can reach over 50°C after only five minutes when the temperature outside is 32°C.
The colour of the car, the tint on the windows or even leaving the windows open does not reduce the cabin temperature by a significant amount, nor did parking the car in the shade.
In six minutes you could lose your best friend! You can also be fined large amounts, around $5,500 for causing your animal distress and $22,500 and two years in jail if you cause your animal’s death. If you see a dog trapped in a hot car, call the NRMA or the police immediately.
This week Animal Welfare League Eurobodalla has two lovely cats still looking for a home and the rather lovely Tasha, a fox terrier cross, who would make a wonderful pet for an active family with good fences. She is a delightful little personality and around 10 months old.
The Animal Welfare League promotes responsible pet ownership. All our animals are rehomed having been de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and protected against fleas and ticks. For more information telephone Elaine on 0410 016 612.
